Recently I had one of those rare afternoons where I felt life whisper, āSlow down. This is what freedom looks like.ā I got picked up early from work, and instead of rushing into errands or responsibilities, I made a choice: I sat down at a restaurant table in the middle of the day. That decision alone felt like rebellion against the grind.
The restaurant? Deja Brew Cafe. The restaurant is known for coffee, pastries, and casual but elevated lunch and brunch dishes.
I ordered their Rasta Pasta with steak, and wow! It was a solid 9/10. The pasta was rich, savory, and seasoned perfectly. The steak came in such generous portions that I couldnāt finish it. Thatās saying something because I love steak. I actually sent the plate back without asking for a to-go box, and the owner himself came out. I smiled and explained: the food was incredible, it was simply too much š. That moment of connection, where hospitality met honesty, reminded me how good it feels to simply be present.
And let me tell you about the Deja Punch. The drink was sweet, refreshing, and the perfect midday treat. Between sips, I noticed they had board games stacked by the tables. Imagine that: a place where you can eat, laugh, sip something amazing, and play games all without checking the clock or your emails. No pressure. No deadlines. Just freedom.
Hereās the truth: choosing healthier options will always matter. Taking care of your body and your spirit isnāt a luxuryāitās essential. But freedom is also in the moments. The freedom to sit, sip, eat, and play in the middle of the day because you decided to. Thatās the life so many of us are craving, and itās exactly why I built QuitMyJobNow.comāto show that freedom is possible and worth chasing.
⨠Self Reflection:
When was the last time you took a step back mid day and did something just for you? And if itās been too long, whatās stopping you from creating that kind of freedom for yourself?
āØBONUS Self Reflection:
Do you treat your health like itās optional or do you treat it like itās a ticket to freedom?
